Hi from Catia!

Catia, our Cesarina, lives on the outskirts of Padua, a city full of treasures to be discovered. Art, culture, history and gastronomy, imposing squares, alleys and shops, nothing is really missing. Even in our Cesarina's home nothing is missing: delicacies that trace the typical Venetian and Paduan flavors, made with raw materials, most of which come from farms in the area.

Catia provided a cooking experience like none I have ever experienced in the many cooking classes I’ve taken. In her beautiful home, she not only showed me how to do the steps in making gnocchi but she shared what she learned from cooking with her mother since she was a little girl. She explained the importance of using key ingredients such as the flour and specific kind of potato, how to handle the dough and how to make a delicious sauce for the gnocchi. After the cooking of the gnocchi, we sat on her lovely outdoor patio and ate the gnocchi from her beautiful china and glassware with wine and special appetizers she made to complement the food. She never rushed the experience and we sat for a long time and talked about Italy, its people and culture. My experience with Catia was the highlight of my visit to Padua. I am so grateful for the special experience of knowing her as the wonderful and gracious person that she is and how generous she was in sharing her knowledge, skills and life experiences.

I can only agree with the other reviews, we had an amazing time with Catia and immediately felt welcome and at home in her place. The food was great and we had a lot of fun making the pasta ourselves. We also liked the conversations we had with Catia a lot. We can’t wait to try to make the recipes again at home! :-)
